Phase 1 Habitat Surveys

A Phase 1 habitat survey is the standard method for classifying broad habitats in the UK and is a classification system based on vegetation characteristics and communities. The Phase 1 survey provides a description of each habitat present, including a plant species list and a colour coded map which identifies each habitat. The maps produced by GLM Ecology are digitized to a high standard using GIS software, giving a clear and accurate presentation of habitat data. This type of survey allows for the identification of potentially important habitats which may require further in depth surveys such as National Vegetation Classification (NVC) surveys.
